Emergencies

Same-day emergency appointment

If you have a dental emergency in Geneva, we recommend that you follow the procedure below:

  • In the event of an accident involving the front teeth, keep the broken tooth fragment to give yourself a chance to reattach it. To protect the tooth fragment, it is advisable to keep it in a container with milk, saliva or even water to maximise the chances of reattachment.
  • Report the accident immediately to your insurance company, which will cover the full cost of the accident.
  • If you notice any swelling, directly apply cold to the area in question (such as an ice pack).
  • Don’t hesitate to take painkillers and anti-inflammatories if there are no contraindications in your case.
  • Finally, in the event of a dental emergency (a broken tooth, a loose filling, severe pain, etc.), don’t hesitate to consult a dentist as soon as possible, rather than waiting for further complications.

A dental emergency occurs when there is a sudden change in the state of a patient’s oral health, requiring rapid action. A large number of situations can be classified as dental emergencies, requiring a consultation. These include the following dental emergencies or traumas:

  • Pain as sharp as toothache
  • Tooth abscess and facial swelling
  • Severe toothache or broken tooth
  • Loose fillings
  • Crown, post or bridge that falls out or loosens
  • Spontaneous bleeding from the gums
  • Broken braces
  • Broken retainer
  • Broken or cracked denture
  • Jaw lock

This list of dental emergencies is obviously not exhaustive, and our on-call dentists are at your service to deal with your dental emergencies as quickly as possible.
