Orthodontics, Aligners, Invisalign®, Orthodontics
Does the Clinique d’Hygiène Dentaire de Genève use Invisalign?
At CHD, we want to offer our patients the latest developments in dental treatment. Invisalign aligners represent a real revolution in the world of orthodontics. That’s why, if your situation allows, your orthodontist will be able to offer you a treatment based on aligners.
What orthodontic treatment is available for adults in Geneva?
At CHD, we offer several methods of orthodontic treatment to suit your needs and situation. For adults, whenever possible and depending on the complexity of your case, we recommend fitting Invisalign aligners to correct the alignment of your teeth.
But we can also offer you treatment with braces made of metal or ceramic, or braces placed on the inside of your teeth (so they are invisible).
Which orthodontic treatment is available for children in Geneva?
CHD can also offer a range of treatments for children. After an initial appointment to find out more about your child’s needs, the orthodontist will suggest a suitable treatment plan. The most common treatment for children and teenagers is traditional braces (metal, resin or ceramic). That said, if you wish and your child’s case allows it, Invisalign aligners can be fitted.
For children between the ages of 7 and 10, we carry out orthodontic treatment with an orthopaedic aim. Using small appliances (false palates, thrusters, etc.), we guide the growth of the child’s maxilla (upper jaw) and mandible (lower jaw). This facilitates orthodontic treatment at a later stage.
When should I visit an orthodontic centre?
For adults, it is advisable to consult an orthodontist when you have a dental problem, such as: misalignment of teeth, too much space between teeth, too much overlap between teeth…
For children, orthodontic specialists recommend an initial check-up at the age of 6 to identify any problems that may require early treatment. As a general rule, however, orthodontic treatment for children begins between the ages of 6 and 10.
Invisalign and transparent aligners in video :
Find out all you need to know about Invisalign and clear aligners! This video explains how these innovative devices discreetly correct the alignment of your teeth, while offering unrivalled comfort and perfect aesthetics.
Invisalign can treat a variety of problems, such as overlaps, gaps between teeth or mild to moderate malocclusions. You’ll also find maintenance tips, the key stages of treatment and all the benefits of this orthodontic option for optimum results.
What are the different types of braces?
There are two main types of orthodontic appliances:
- Traditional braces
This is still the most common treatment for correcting misaligned teeth. The concept is to place “brackets” (made of metal, resin or ceramic) on each tooth to be straightened and to join them together.
These brackets can also be invisible if they are placed on the inside of the teeth(lingual braces). - Invisalign aligners
These are transparent aligners, almost invisible to the naked eye, which allow you to straighten your teeth as the treatment progresses by adapting and changing the aligners regularly;
What are the stages in orthodontic treatment?
- An initial assessment is carried out during a preparatory appointment to identify the treatment best suited to your needs;
- Once the treatment has been validated, the device is fitted;
- Several follow-up appointments are then made to readapt the device and check that the treatment is working in accordance with the plan defined beforehand;
- At the end of the treatment, the orthodontist places a retainer to preserve the results obtained with the braces.
How long does orthodontic treatment at CHD Geneva last?
The length of an orthodontic treatment depends mainly on the amount and type of movement involved (the complexity of the case, in short), but also on the cleanliness of the gums that hold the teeth in place: the more plaque there is, the more inflammation there is in the gums, and the longer the treatment will take.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
The price of orthodontic treatment can vary from €2,500 to €9,500, depending on a number of criteria, including :
- The complexity of the correction required to realign your teeth;
- Duration of treatment ;
- The choice of braces: Invisalign aligners can generally be more expensive than traditional braces;
- The choice of material: in the case of rings, for example, if you choose a ceramic model for a more discreet aesthetic effect, the budget will be higher than with more traditional metal rings, for example.
Naturally, we offer our patients the option of paying for their orthodontic treatment in monthly instalments.
