Orthodontics, Aligners, Invisalign®, Orthodontics
Does the Clinique d’Hygiène Dentaire de Meyrin use Invisalign?
The orthodontists at CHD are able to recommend the best treatment possible for your situation from among all the treatments available. If you do not wish to wear braces or have dental veneers, and you are eligible, you can choose to wear Invisalign aligners. This solution will provide you with great comfort and an unbeatable aesthetic result, as Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible to the naked eye.
Which orthodontic treatment is available in Meyrin for adults?
The orthodontic specialists at CHD will offer you the best treatment depending on your needs:
- Invisalign aligners : this treatment consists of a series of transparent aligners which gradually correct the alignement of your teeth;
- Traditional” braces: depending on your preference and budget, you can opt for classic metal brackets or ceramic brackets for a more discreet look;
- Lingual braces : these are brackets placed on the inside of the teeth to correct their alignment without the braces being visible;
For those who do not wish to undergo orthodontic treatment, but would like to improve the aesthetics of their smile, our dentists specialising in aesthetics can offer you :
- Dental veneers : thin shells of resin or ceramic that are bonded to the surface of your teeth to change their alignment, appearance, shape or colour.
What kind of orthodontic treatment is available for children in Meyrin?
CHD offers various types of orthodontic treatment for children, including braces, which can either be fixed on the outside or inside of the teeth. Invisalign aligners can also be considered, provided that the child or teenager is sufficiently rigorous in wearing them for the treatment to be effective.
When should I visit an orthodontic clinic ?
Orthodontics can be used in two specific cases:
- For functional reasons: a malpositioned tooth or jaw can also be the cause of oral problems such as poor chewing or swallowing, the formation of cavities or subgingival plaque, the appearance of inflammation, bleeding or bone loss, etc.
- Primarily for aesthetic reasons: if you suffer from misalignment, malposition or dental crowding, for example, and would like to improve the aesthetics of your smile;
Invisalign and transparent aligners in video :
Find out all you need to know about Invisalign and clear aligners! This video explains in detail how these innovative devices discreetly correct the alignment of your teeth, while offering unrivalled comfort, visual discretion and perfect aesthetics for all everyday situations.
Invisalign can treat a variety of problems, such as overlapping teeth, gaps between teeth and mild to moderate malocclusions. You’ll also find maintenance advice, the key stages of treatment, information on monitoring progress, and all the benefits of this orthodontic option for a harmonious smile.
What are the different types of braces?
There are two main types of braces:
- Invisalign aligners allow you to correct the alignment of your teeth discreetly and can be removed when you eat or brush your teeth;
- Traditional braces or braces fitted using the lingual technique on the inside of the teeth.
What are the stages in orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is a long-term process. After an initial consultation with your orthodontist, he or she will suggest a course of treatment tailored to your situation, together with an estimate and a payment plan.
Following this consultation comes the assessment appointment, which allows the orthodontist to gather all the information(X-rays, photographs, analysis of the space available to move the teeth, 3D scanner impressions, etc.) needed to draw up a precise and definitive treatment plan. This key stage also enables the dentist to communicate with the laboratory, particularly in the case of Invisalign aligners.
If you need to wear aligners or lingual braces, you then need to allow time for design in the laboratory and an appointment for fitting.
Thereafter, several check-ups are held to ensure that the treatment is proceeding correctly and to activate the devices until the end of the treatment and the removal of the devices.
The very last stage consists of fitting a splint or wire to maintain the perfect alignment achieved through orthodontic treatment.
How long does orthodontic treatment at CHD Meyrin last?
To find out exactly how long your orthodontic treatment will take, talk to one of the orthodontists at CHD. He or she will be able to assess the corrections that need to be made to your teeth, suggest a suitable course of treatment and provide you with an estimate and a provisional timetable. Finally, you should know that although it is impossible to generalise and give a precise length of treatment for all patients, treatment times have been greatly shortened thanks to technological advances, and are now no longer than 9 months on average for adults.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
Your orthodontist will be able to give you a detailed estimate of the cost of your orthodontic treatment. You should generally expect to pay between CHF 2,500 and CHF 9,500 for adult treatment, and between CHF 2,500 and CHF 8,500 for children’s treatment.
