Why do we need to do this?

Whatever our business (doctor’s surgery, restaurant, hairdresser’s salon, etc.), we are all victims of (too many) missed appointments.

When you don’t turn up for an appointment, unfortunately you don’t realise the many repercussions this can have for the company concerned, and even less so for our business.

Because of our medical training, our first reaction is to hope that nothing serious has happened to you: in fact, we have to deal with dozens of accidents every day, with terrible oral and dental consequences for our patients, which is one of the reasons why we have set up a system for dealing with same-day emergencies within 24 hours.

When this is not the case and it is for a secondary reason, you have consequently blocked the possibility for another patient to benefit from essential treatment or to be seen urgently to relieve pain. As a reminder, appointments with hygienists can obviously represent “essential” appointments in the case of people suffering from decay (periodontitis), and we do our utmost to offer them appointments as soon as possible.

We are particularly accessible: you can book your appointments by telephone, website, email or even WhatsApp, so please select one of these methods and give us at least 24 hours’ notice of any cancellation or postponement of an appointment so that another patient can benefit from our medical services.

We are committed to providing you with the best possible care in the best possible conditions, and would therefore like you to be able to honour your commitment: simply to come to your appointment!
You’ll understand that we prefer to invest all our energy and goodwill in a respectful and committed clientele.

We would also like to remind you that CHD is not run by investment funds or financial specialists like most other dental clinics: it is simply run by 3 young health professionals who you can see every day in the clinics. For this reason, missed appointments that are not cancelled in advance have a real negative impact on our operations and the organisation of our teams.

However, it is perfectly understandable that a last-minute change may occur or that an unexpected event may prevent you from keeping your appointment at CHD. This is why the first unexcused missed appointment is never billed if a new appointment is scheduled.

From the second missed appointment onwards, we charge a flat fee of 80.00, which is less than the recommendations of the SSO (Swiss Dental Society), and much less than the cost of the treatment for which the appointment was booked.
This fixed price was introduced on 01.01.23 and does not directly benefit the clinic in any way: it has been decided that the entire amount will go towards training our clinical teams.
